I would like to thank all kitesurfers and non-kitesurfers who kindly participated in my experiment. I am proud to announce that my thesis project has been completed and I am back on the water and teaching kitesurfing in Dublin, hopefully will have more time now to keep my blog up to date so watch this space.

bit of work but mostly fun in Portugal, where I attended IKO Instructor Training Course organised by Tiago Rocha. Tiago is an IKO examiner but he also happens to run a succesfull kitesurfing school in Esposende. Perfect spot for kitesurfing, also lively surroundings of Esposende kept everybody busy in the evening and during the night...
Thanks to Tiago and portugeese hospitality, I had a wonderful time!

Quick update on what happend in Kerry...
not much kiting as the wind just wasnt there, but great fancy dress party
was organised by the IKSA, overall results from competitions were
given and guess what???turns out that I am the new Ladies Kitesurfing Champion in Ireland for 2008, cool eh !
very happy and plan to keep training hard over the winter so I could
actualy keep the trophy for a while ;)

I hope to keep my blog up to date with all the kiting info, for now unfortunately
I have to take a brake from beach and do some work for college, watch this space
though as Im planning to bring my kites for some snowkiting in December...

Once again wind forecast suprised all kiters who gathered in Tyrella for the 5th this year Kitesurfing Competition organised by IKSA and Northern Ireland Kitesurfing Community...
Competition on Saturday was postponed due to lack of wind but that didnt matter to much as we all enjoyed sunny day out on the beach, looking forward to party in the evening and full of hope for the wind to come back on Sunday...(unfortunately some data from sat night is missing so lets move on to the next day so called the morning after)...
Sunday started not so good, as "massive" fly walking on the window ,sounded like an irish army marching through the streets , woke me up...head felt bigger than the globe...that couldnt get worse but only better, and as it was no point staying in this noisy environment, only way to cure this existential pain was to drive to the beach and dive into the cold irish waters...
as I arrived to the beach with Eamon, Ailish was already there looking anxious and excited, thats how we knew that something was going to happen...wind came back nice, clear and steady...
Action, cold water, refreshment. Headache (lat;kac pospolitus,meanus hangoverus) was gone within seconds ...
Rest of the kiters, smelling nice conditions in the air, started to arrive...
Time to begin the competition...
Spoiled with so much wind we were able to run finals from Achill Competition and all Tyrella heats.
On the water from 10 in the morning untill late afternoon, we all got the most of it...amazing day

Achill Island Kitesurfing Competition

summer is over and im back to hardcore gusty winds, atlantic ocean and irish sea, smelly seaweed, college, work (kinda?!) and fantastic irish kitesurfing community known in the country as a "good craic"!!!
after 5 hrs drive i arrived to Achill Island, already few kites on the lake, looked like conditions will let us run the event nice and smooth, unfortunetly weather has changed its plans very quick and the wind was dying of with every hour...
with the "ladies" category we manage to run three heats, after which we found the 3 lucky kitechics who will be fighting for the first place, probably in ocotber.
Great performance from all the ladies after training realy hard all summer. In the final of the 4th this year kitesurfing competition we will see Aleksandra Bondareva, Katarzyna Yeates and Dominika Kupciw(me).

finally got my beloved switchblade 3 cabrinha 6 meter machine,
brought it with me to rosnawlagh for crazy session, full of hope and excitement
and again i made a good decission to get the switchblade, it is fast, it is smooth, and
what a hang time, impressive, the best from the best.
Rosnawlagh was great, 2 days of crazy westerly winds, with great crew of kiters from lsd, dub and north, 3 hrs on the water saturday and same on sunday, pitty was so cold otherwise session could be longer.happy days
